Swimmer Huy Hoang to carry Vietnamese flag at SEA Games 32

VOV.VN - Local swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang has been selected to hold the Vietnamese national flag during the opening ceremony of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) which will take place on May 5 in Cambodia.

The Quang Binh native won five gold medals and broke two SEA Games records at the regional games held last year in Vietnam.

Hoang is one of the country’s leading athletes and is expected to win gold medals in the men’s swimming category at the games when they take place this year.

He is now taking part in a training course in Hungary and is set to fly to Cambodia a few days before SEA Games 32’s opening ceremony.

SEA Games 32 will be held in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep in Cambodia from May 5 to May 17. Vietnam is due to send 1,003 members, including 702 athletes, to the regional games.

The Vietnamese sport delegation aims to make the top three of the overall medal tally and win around 90 gold medals in the process.
