VOV.VN - A send-off ceremony was held in Hanoi on April 19 for the Vietnamese sport delegation to compete at the coming 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) to be held in Cambodia.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to send a 1,003 member delegation to Cambodia for regional competitions. Among them are 702 athletes who will compete in 30 out of 36 sports at the Games.

Vietnam aims to win between 89 and 120 gold medals to rank among top countries with the best results. It expects to maintain high rankings in Olympic sports and defend the championship titles for both men and women’s football.

Athletes will try their best to win every medal for the fatherland, said Dang Ha Viet, head of the Vietnam Sports Administration and head of the Vietnamese sport delegation to the 32nd SEA Games, at the send-off ceremony.

Each member of the delegation will perform well as a messenger of peace, contributing to maintaining and strengthening solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development with Southeast Asian countries, he added.

The 32nd SEA Games is scheduled to take place in Cambodia from May 5 to 17.
