Six VN players infected with COVID-19 ahead Oman game

VOV.VN - Two more players of the Vietnam national team have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection ahead their World Cup qualifying clash with Oman on March 24.

Midfielders Hai Huy and Xuan Truong could not gather for a training session on March 19 as the two had contracted the virus, doctor Tran Anh Tuan of the national team announced.

Earlier, Tuan Manh, Hong Duy, Van Nam and Van Hoang had also tested positive for the virus.

There are only seven players left in the team who have never been infected with COVID-19, said doctor Anh Tuan.

Vietnamese players are training in Hanoi for a home match against Oman opponents as part of the World Cup qualifying series.

Without key players in the lineup, coach Park Hang-seo is likely to call in other players for the national team.

The national team stunned the Vietnam U23 side 2-0 in a friendly on March 18.
