Vietnamese defender tests positive for COVID-19 ahead Oman clash
VOV.VN - National team defender Nguyen Phong Hong Duy has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Vietnam’s upcoming fixtures as part of the ongoing World Cup qualification process.
This comes after Duy tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on March 16 and was asked to follow instructions issued by local health agencies regarding isolation for a period of seven to 10 days in order to ensure safety for the wider community.
As a result of this, the Vietnamese defender will be unable to compete in the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Oman which will be played at the My Dinh National Stadium on March 24.
Korean head coach Park Hang-seo immediately called up U23 player Le Van Xuan of Hanoi FC to replace Duy in the senior national team. The 23-year-old player also had chance to join the national team for several World Cup qualifiers and matches at the 2020 AFF Cup.
