Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh voted as Vietnam’s most outstanding athlete in 2025
VOV.VN - With a total score of 1,272, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh was announced as Vietnam’s most outstanding athlete of 2025 in a national poll organised by the Sports Authority of Vietnam on December 31.
Vinh had a standout year. She claimed four golds and set three records at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) held in Thailand recently.
Earlier in February shooters Trinh Thu Vinh and Pham Quang Huy brought home a gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team category at the 2025 Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship.
Vinh was followed by runner Nguyen Thi Oanh with 761 points who took three gold medals at SEA Games 33. The third position went to striker Nguyen Dinh Bac with 693 points who won a gold medal at SEA Games 33 men’s football and was awarded Silver Ball 2025.
Others in the top athlete category were canoeist Nguyen Thi Huong, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang, karate fighter Hoang Thi My Tam, track-and-field athletes Nguyen Thi Ngoc and Bui Thi Kim Anh, gymnast Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, and xianqi grandmaster Lai Ly Huynh.
In the coach-of-the-year category, national men’s football team coach Kim Sang-sik topped the list with 532 points, followed by shooting coach Tran Quoc Cuong, 283 points, and swimming coach Nguyen Hoang Vu, 224 points.
The national men’s football squad were honoured as the outstanding team of 2025, receiving 1,660 points.
In the category of outstanding athletes with disabilities, swimmer Vi Thi Hang topped the list with 282 points. Swimming coach Nguyen Dang Vien, meanwhile, was placed first in the coach rankings with 201 points.
Trinh Thu Vinh rises to top of Asian 25m sport pistol rankings
VOV.VN - Vietnamese shooter Trinh Thu Vinh has climbed to the top of the Asian rankings in the women’s 25m sport pistol event, according to the latest standings released on December 22 by the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC).
