SEA Games update: More gold for Vietnam in canoeing event on morning of May 18
VOV.VN - Local canoeists Truong Thi Phuong and Nguyen Thi Ngan won another gold medal for the country in the women's canoe doubles 1000-metre event at the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) on the morning of May 18.
This marks the 10th gold for the Vietnamese canoeing team at SEA Games 31, with all the gold medals being won by female rowers.
As part of the Games, a total of 19 canoeing and kayak events are scheduled to run between May 17 and May 21, with contestants coming from eight nations throughout the region.
On May 18, local athletes continue competing in shooting, archery, fencing, rowing, karate, swimming, chess, and Chinese chess.
As of 11:30 a.m. on May 18, the nation had won 105 gold, 65 silver, and 64 bronze medals, ranking first in the medal count. Elsewhere, Thailand are in second with 43 golds, 44 silvers, and 62 bronzes, whilst the Philippines come third place with 34 golds, 38 silvers, and 50 bronzes.
