SEA Games 33, December 13: Vietnam sets athletics record
VOV.VN - December 13 marked another successful day for the Vietnam sports delegation at SEA Games 33, particularly in athletics and karate.
In the mixed 4x400m relay, the team of Le Ngoc Phuc, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, and Ta Ngoc Tuong claimed a gold medal and set a new SEA Games record with a time of 3:15.07, breaking the previous mark of 3:19.29.
In karate, Hoang Thi My Tam defeated Thailand’s Butsuwan Maneevan to win Vietnam’s first gold of the day. Nguyen Thanh Truong followed with gold in the men’s -84kg category, while Dinh Thi Huong secured the third karate gold for Vietnam in the women’s -68kg division.
In taekwondo, Tran Thi Anh Tuyet overcame a host nation competitor to claim gold in the women’s -57kg Kyorugi event.
In women’s 5,000m athletics, Nguyen Thi Oanh delivered a standout performance to take gold. In the mixed 4x400m relay, the Vietnamese quartet of Le Ngoc Phuc, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, and Ta Ngoc Tuong added another gold medal to their tally.
Overall, the Vietnam sports delegation won six gold medals on December 13, along with additional medals in other events.
