Vietnam athletics targets 12 golds at SEA Games 33 with 51-strong squad

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s athletics team will compete at SEA Games 33 with its largest squad among all sports, fielding 51 athletes with the ambition of winning 12 gold medals in Thailand.

The team also carries the highest performance target of any Vietnamese sport. Several of the country’s top track and field stars have retained their spots for SEA Games 33-2025.

The team’s goal is to secure 12 golds, roughly one‑eighth of the total target set for the entire Vietnamese delegation. To maintain strategic discretion, the team has not disclosed detailed event-specific targets within the 12-gold objective.

At SEA Games 32 in Cambodia, Vietnam’s athletics squad won a total of 40 medals, including 12 golds, 20 silvers, and 8 bronzes. Many of last edition’s gold medalists are returning this year.

Athletics at SEA Games 33 features 47 medal events and will take place from December 10 to 16 at Bangkok’s Supachalasai Stadium.
