RoK referee to officiate Vietnam-India match at AFC Women’s Asian Cup
VOV.VN - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has appointed referee Kim Yu Jeong from the Republic of Korea to officiate the opening Group C match between Vietnam and India as part of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia.
Kim will be assisted by Heba Saadieh of Palestine and Hinthong Supawan of Thailand, while Iran’s Mahnaz Zokaee has been named fourth official. Singaporean referee Muhammad Taqi will oversee the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) operations.
According to AFC, the Korean referee has regularly handled fixtures under AFC competitions, working across both women’s and men’s tournaments. She previously officiated matches involving Vietnamese clubs such as Hanoi Police FC and Nam Dinh FC in the 2025/2026 AFC Cup season, in addition to assignments in other regional and international competitions.
At this year’s finals, the AFC has assigned female referees to take charge of all matches, highlighting the growing role of women in officiating major continental tournaments.
Vietnam are scheduled to play their group-stage matches in Perth, facing India on March 4, Chinese Taipei on March 7 and Japan on March 10 at Perth Rectangular Stadium.
