Nguyen Thuy Linh battles past Lin Hsiang-ti in thriller at Orleans Masters
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top women’s badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh on March 18 staged a dramatic comeback victory over Lin Hsiang-ti in a three-game thriller at the Orléans Masters taking place in France.
Despite being ranked nine places below her opponent, Thuy Linh entered the match with confidence, backed by a strong head-to-head record. The contest quickly lived up to expectations, unfolding as a tightly contested battle from start to finish.
In the opening game, the Vietnamese shuttler took early control with precise shot placement and effective tempo management, building a lead before Lin mounted a comeback. Under pressure, Thuy Linh held her nerve to seal the game 21-19 after several missed game points.
The second game followed a similar script. Thuy Linh surged ahead 11-4 and later held a 20-16 advantage, seemingly on course for victory. However, a series of unforced errors allowed Lin Hsiang-ti to rally and claim the game 22-20, forcing a decisive game.
The game saw both players engage in long rallies and intense exchanges, with neither able to establish a decisive gap. At 20-19, Thuy Linh missed a match point, but quickly regained composure to win the next two points and close out the match 22-20.
With a 2-1 victory (21-19, 20-22, 22-20), Thuy Linh advances to the next round, where she will face Lo Sin Yan Happy (Hong Kong – China).
