Ngoc Ha takes bronze at 2026 Asian Athletics Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnam have concluded their campaign at the 2026 Asian Athletics Championships with one bronze medal, as Vu Thi Ngoc Ha secured a podium finish in the women’s triple jump.
Competing on the final day of the tournament in China on May 19, Ngoc Ha recorded a best jump of 13.55m to take bronze in a highly competitive field featuring many of Asia’s leading jump specialists.
Her teammate Nguyen Thi Huong finished sixth with a mark of 13.18m.
The gold and silver medals both went to Chinese athletes, who posted distances of 14.16m and 13.96m respectively.
Ngoc Ha’s result continues her consistent performances at major regional competitions. At the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), she also won bronze in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 13.68m. The athlete is currently regarded as one of Vietnam’s most experienced female jumpers in both long jump and triple jump.
In the men’s triple jump, Vietnam’s Ho Trong Manh Hung finished sixth after recording 15.97m, missing out on a medal position. The discipline was won by a Chinese athlete with a championship-leading jump of 16.90m. Manh Hung previously claimed gold at the 2025 SEA Games with a mark of 16.33m.
This year marked the first time the Asian Athletics Association has organised a continental championship dedicated exclusively to jumping disciplines, including long jump, high jump, triple jump, and pole vault for both men and women.
