Le Thi Cam Tu wins second gold for Vietnam at Singapore athletics meet

VOV.VN - Le Thi Cam Tu won the women’s 200m on April 16 at the 2026 Singapore Open Track & Field Championships, securing Vietnam’s second gold medal at the meet.

In the final later that day, she clocked 23.64 seconds to finish first among eight athletes. Singapore’s Tan Elizabeth-Ann Shee took silver in 24.20, while Yang Mei-Mei finished third in 24.37.

Cam Tu had earlier recorded 24.02 in the heats to qualify for the final. Southeast Asia’s leading sprinter Veronica Shanti did not compete due to injury. Vietnam’s Kha Thanh Truc placed fifth in the final with a time of 24.52.

The gold medal was Vietnam’s second at the championships. The team had earlier won the women’s 100m through Phung Thi Hue.

At the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, Cam Tu won silver in the women’s 200m with a time of 23.14, a result recognised as a national record. Her gold medal in Singapore continues to demonstrate her training efforts.
