Minh retains 24th in world junior chess champs

International Master Tran Tuan Minh tied with Harsha Bhrathakoti of India in the seventh round at the ongoing World Junior (U-20) Chess Championship in India.

With this draw, Minh retained his position of 24 out of 80 rivals in the rankings with four points.

In the eighth round, Minh will face FIDE Master Grandadam Patrik of Switzerland who ranks 31st with the same points as Minh.

In other news, Minh’s younger brother, Tran Minh Thang rose up four places in the rankings to 46th with 3.5 points.

Thang, who won the world U8 category in 2008, drew with Chakravarthi Reddy M of India. He will next meet Studer Noel of Switzerland.
