Ly Hoang Nam shines at VTF Masters 500
VOV.VN - The nation’s leading tennis player Ly Hoang Nam of Hai Dang club enjoyed an easy win during the opening day of the The National Men’s - Women's Tennis Championship (VTF Masters 500-2) – Lach Tray Cup, which was held on November 25 in Hai Phong.
The first round of the men's single event saw the No.1 seed successfully beat his rival Nguyen Quang Vinh of Hung Thinh club in just two games with a score of 6-0 and 6-1.
Moving forward, Nam is due to take on Truong Minh Thanh of Becamex Binh Duong club for a place in the quarter-finals on November 26. On the same day, Nam is scheduled to join with Le Quoc Khanh to play against local pair Ngoc Nhut and Tuan Minh in the men’s doubles event.
This year’s event has attracted the participation of 128 players from 15 clubs and localities nationwide.
It marks the second consecutive year that Hai Phong has hosted a tournament of national prestige that brings together the country’s top players. Those participating include top local player Ly Hoang Nam of Hai Dang club, along with Trinh Linh Giang of Hai Dang club, Tran Thuy Thanh Truc of Hung Thinh - Ho Chi Minh City, Dao Minh Trang of Hung Thinh - Ho Chi Minh City, and Si Boi Ngoc of the Military Team.
Furthermore, there are bonus points and trophies on offer for players who record outstanding achievements, with the winners also set to receive a high bonus, with a total value of up to VND500 million. Indeed, the men's singles champion will receive VND70 million, the women's singles champion will win VND60 million, the men's doubles champions will claim VND35 million, with the women's doubles champions winning VND30 million.
The event also aims to select a number of outstanding local tennis players who can compete at the SEA Games 31.
