VOV.VN - Vietnam overcame the Republic of Korea (RoK) to win their first match in Pool C of the 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship which took place on August 30 in Nakhon Ratchasima of Thailand.

Leading 2-0 after two sets, the RoK women’s volleyball team trounced Vietnam 25-22 and 25-19.

The Vietnamese players went on to reverse the situation in dramatic fashion, taking the lead in three remaining sets with scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 15-13.

The local volleyballers won their first two points following their 3-2 victory against the RoK.

Vietnam will now move on to play their second match against Uzbekistan at 6 p.m. on August 31. The national team have been drawn in Pool C together with Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, and the RoK. They will vie for top honours and accumulate points for the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Rankings.

A total of 13 teams are due to compete in the round-robin preliminaries, with only the top two teams from each pool advancing to the last eight, split into Pool E and Pool F.

In the last eight, teams will then be pitted in the round-robin competition once again, with top two teams from each pool contesting the cross semi-finals. The two winning teams will progress to face off in the final showdown on September 6, while the losers will fight it out in the third-place playoff clash for bronze medal.
