Local team looks to foreign players for AFC Women’s Champions League
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City I Women's Football Club has decided to recruit three foreign players as they prepare to compete in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Champions League during the 2024 to 2025 season.
This will mark the first time in the history of Vietnamese women's football that a club has signed foreign players.
The names of the foreign players as yet to be revealed, although the club state that they will arrive in Vietnam as soon as possible.
In addition, talented striker Huynh Nhu will also play for the Ho Chi Minh City 1 FC in the competition.
According to details given by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), national reigning champions Ho Chi Minh City I Women's FC will compete in the group stage of the AFC Women’s Champions League, which is scheduled to take place at Thong Nhat Stadium between October 6 to October 12.
Vietnam will serve as a venue for one group in the opening round of the continental tournament. As a result, Ho Chi Minh City-based team will play at home for all three matches.
They will be joined by other women’s football clubs from across the Asian region, including Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies of Japan, Melbourne City FC of Australia, Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC of China, and Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC of the Republic of Korea.
