Vietnam to host AFC Women’s Champions League group stage
VOV.VN - The country will be a venue for one group in the opening round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Champions League which is scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 12.
National reigning champions Ho Chi Minh City 1 FC will be the Vietnamese representative competing in the tournament.
They will be joined by other women’s football clubs from across the Asian region, including Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies of Japan, Melbourne City FC of Australia, Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC of China, and Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC of the Republic of Korea to compete in the group stage. A total of 12 teams are to be divided into three groups.
China and Vietnam will be hosting one group each in the initial stage of the competition. The third remaining host for the group stage will be identified after a draw on July 18 at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The top two finishers of each group and the two best third-placed sides will then progress to the quarter-finals of AFC Women’s Champions League in March, 2025.
