Local marksmen bring home five golds at SEA shooting tournament
VOV.VN - Vietnamese marksmen won a total of five gold medals after the opening two days of the 45th Southeast Asian Shooting Association Championship (SEASA) 2023, with the event currently underway in Chinese Taipei.
On November 9, Phan Xuan Chuyen was able to overcome strong rivals from Thailand and Malaysia to win a gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol individual.
Chuyen and his teammates Ha Minh Thanh and Vu Tien Nam brought home a gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol team, with the trio followed by competitors from the hosts Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong (China).
The trio also bagged a gold medal in the men’s 25m center fire pistol team.
The previous day saw a gold medal go to Ha Minh Thanh in the men’s 25m center fire pistol individual.
In the women’s 10m air rifle category, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Phi Thanh Thao, and Nguyen Thi Thao came first, surpassing strong rivals from Singapore and Malaysia to bag a gold medal in the team event.
Elsewhere, Nguyen Minh Quang grabbed a silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol individual.
Furthermore, local athletes also won two bronze medals in the men’s 10m air pistol team and the women’s 10m air pistol individual.
The Southeast Asian championship is the last tournament of the Vietnamese team this year, with the nation sending a total of 41 athletes who recorded good results at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) and the 15th Asian Shooting Championship to the competition.
This year marks the 45th edition of the tournament, with the event scheduled to last through to November 17.
