Vietnam wins two first golds at Southeast Asian shooting tournament
VOV.VN - Local marksmen took home two gold medals on the first competition day of the 45th Southeast Asian Shooting Association Championship (SEASA) 2023 on November 8, with the event currently underway in Chinese Taipei.
In the women’s 10m air rifle category, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Phi Thanh Thao, and Nguyen Thi Thao came first with a total of 1878,3 points, surpassing strong rivals from Singapore and Malaysia to bag a gold medal in the team event.
Also, Le Thi Mong Tuyen obtained a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air rifle individuals. Phi Thanh Thao and Nguyen Thi Thao also ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in this category.
Furthermore, a gold medal went to Ha Minh Thanh with a score of 570 points in the men’s 25m center fire pistol. However, his teammates Phan Xuan Chuyen and Vu Tien Nam failed to record any medal in the same category.
The Southeast Asian championship is the last tournament for the Vietnamese team this year, with the nation sending 41 athletes who recorded good results at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) and the 15th Asian Shooting Championship to the competition.
Marksman Pham Quang Huy, who recently won a gold medal at ASIAD 19, is among the Vietnamese competitors participating in the tournament.
This year marks the 45th edition of the tournament, with the event scheduled to last through to November 17.
