VOV.VN - Vietnamese cueist Nguyen Thi Lien, aka Lien Quynh, defeated Colombia’s Claudia Chacon in the quarterfinals of the 2025 World Championship Three-Cushion Ladies in Murcia, Spain, on September 24, advancing to the semifinals.

Lien Quynh started the match confidently, scoring two consecutive points to take a 6-2 lead. She extended her advantage with a five-point run, closing the first set ahead 16-5. Early in the second set, she maintained her momentum with another three-point series to make it 21-5.
The contest grew tense as Chacon rallied strongly, narrowing the gap to 25-28. But Lien Quynh kept her composure, sealing the match with two decisive points to claim a 30-25 victory.
By reaching the semifinals, Lien Quynh will certainly secure a medal for Vietnam at the world championship. She has matched the feat achieved by Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi in 2024, when she won a bronze at the Women’s 3-Cushion World Championship, the first-ever medal for Vietnam in the tournament.
In the semi-finals on September 25, the Vietnamese player will face a huge challenge as her opponent is Therese Klompenhouwer, a Dutch player who has dominated the world's women's 3-cushion carom for many years.
