Karate team dominates with 14 more golds in Southeast Asian event

VOV.VN - Vietnamese athletes claimed 14 additional gold medals on June 18, consolidating their lead at the 12th Southeast Asian Karate Federation (SEAKF) Championships 2025 in Brunei, with a total of 25 golds so far.

In the women’s 61kg kumite, Hoang Thi My Tam overcame several strong opponents to take the top spot. Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly clinched gold in the women’s 55kg after defeating Indonesia’s Aprianti Ni Made Dwi, while Dinh Thi Huong won the 68kg category by beating Al Humaira Lubis Leica, also from Indonesia.

Vietnam also triumphed in both the men’s and women’s kata team events.

The regional tournament, which runs through June 19, features hundreds of karate fighters from across Southeast Asia and serves as a key preparation event for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Thailand this December.
