Karate fighters bring home 11 gold medals at SEA championships

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese team won 11 gold medals on the first competition day of the 12th Southeast Asian Karate Federation (SEAKF) Championships 2025 held in Brunei on June 17.

In the women’s 61kg, local fighters Nguyen Thi Ha Giang and Nguyen Thi Man outperformed strong rivals to secure two gold medals in the teenager and U21 categories.

Elsewhere, Dinh Hoang Tan and Nguyen Truong Son dominated the men’s 67kg and 84kg, both in U21 age group, respectively.

Other athletes claimed seven gold medals in the men’s and women’s kata (performance).

The regional championships will run through to June 19, bringing together hundreds of karate fighters from throughout the Southeast Asian region. It is expected to help athletes prepare for the coming 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) which will be held in Thailand this December.
