Karate fighters head to Brunei for Southeast Asian championships
VOV.VN - A team of Vietnamese karate athletes departed for Brunei on June 12 to compete in the 12th Southeast Asian Karate Federation Championships 2025, scheduled to take place from June 14 to 19.

The 16-member squad comprises top-tier competitors, many of whom earned medals at recent Asian karate tournaments. They are aiming for a dominant showing in the medal standings.
Among them are standout trio Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Nguyen Thi Phuong, and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen who will defend their title in the women's team kata (performance).
Hoang Thi My Tam, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, and Nguyen Thi Ngoan who won gold medals in the Asian Karate Championships in May are also expected to bring home medals in the women’s kumite (combat).
The regional championships will bring together 489 karate fighters from the Southeast Asian region. It is expected to help athletes hone in skills for the coming 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) to be held in Thailand this December.
At the 2024 edition in Thailand, the Vietnamese team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing first overall with 21 gold, 21 silver, and 32 bronze medals.
