Vietnam women’s kumite team clinches third consecutive Asian karate title

VOV.VN - Vietnamese karatekas delivered strong performances to win three golds and one bronze at the 2025 Asian Karate Championships, which concluded in Uzbekistan on May 25.

In the women’s 55kg individual kumite event, Hoang Thi My Tam dominated Iran’s Saadati Fateme with a decisive 5-0 victory in the final to take the gold medal.

Vietnam also triumphed in the women’s team kumite, with Hoang Thi My Tam, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, Nguyen Thi Ngoan, and Dang Thi Huong securing a 2-0 win over Kazakhstan. This marks the third time Vietnam has claimed gold in this category.

In the women’s team kata, the Vietnamese squad continued their winning streak by defeating China in the final to bring home another gold. Nguyen Ngoc Tram added a bronze in the women’s individual kata.

With these results, Vietnam finished third overall in the medal tally.
