Ho Chi Minh City to host Vietnam Open Badminton Champs 2023
VOV.VN - The Yonex – Sunrise Vietnam Open 2023 Badminton Championships is scheduled to take place in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City from September 12 to September 17.
At the press conference held on September 7, Nguyen Phuong Nam, deputy head of the Vietnam Badminton Federation, said that this year will see the event attract the participation of 283 male and female players from 23 nations and territories globally.
They will compete in five categories of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with a total prize money of US$100,000 on offer.
Kota Ogawa of Japan is seeded No 1 in the men's singles, followed by Eveshgaran Vasigaran of Malaysia.
In the women's class, the country’s top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh, is seeded No.1. She will face off against another talented Vietnamese player Vu Thi Trang in the first round.
The Yonex – Sunrise Vietnam Open represents a prestigious tournament held annually in Vietnam, with its results being included in the BWF ranking system.
