Vietnamese badminton player beats world number eight

VOV.VN - Local badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh enjoyed a victory over world number eight Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia on September 5 in the first round of the 2023 China Open.

The first set saw Linh enjoy a 21-15 win against Tunjung. The Vietnamese player then continued to take advantages of her opponent’s mistakes in the next set to win 21-14. 

Linh ultimately finished the game with a 2-0 victory overall.

The Vietnamese number one female badminton player will face world number nine Han Yue of China in the second round which is scheduled to take place on September 6. The Chinese player previously defeated world number 12 Pornpaweee Chochuwong of Thailand in the first round.
