Hanoi Police drop victory against Macarthur in AFC Champions League 2
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Hanoi Police FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Australia’s Macarthur FC in the AFC Champions League Two on October 23, despite taking an early lead.
The home side started brightly at Hang Day stadium in Hanoi, creating several chances through the energetic play of Dinh Bac, Quang Hai, and Le Van Do. In the 30th minute, Adou Minh intercepted the ball just outside the penalty area and set up Le Van Do, who coolly finished past the goalkeeper to give Hanoi Police FC a 1-0 lead.
After the break, coach Mano Polking’s men slowed the tempo but continued to control possession, while Macarthur struggled to find attacking rhythm.
However, a turning point came in the 72nd minute, when goalkeeper Filip Nguyen was forced off with an injury and replaced by 20-year-old Vu Thanh Vinh. Just five minutes later, from a corner kick, Uskok headed home to level the score 1-1 for the visitors.
In the final minutes, Hanoi Police FC pushed forward in search of a winner but lacked effectiveness. The absence of Leo Artur and China limited their attacking options. The match ended 1-1, and tis was the second time Hanoi Police FC have dropped points after taking the lead in the group stage.
After three matches, Hanoi Police FC remain top of the table with 5 points, followed by Tai Po (4 points) and Beijing Guoan (3 points).
As the return fixtures approach next month, striker Quang Hai and his teammates will need to improve fitness, maintain concentration, and especially sharpen their finishing skills. Under coach Polking, Hanoi Police FC display a structured, possession-based style of play, but still lack a reliable striker to capitalise on their dominance and avoid further frustrating draws.
