Five Vietnamese players to compete at World Nine-ball Championship

VOV.VN - Vietnam will send five cueists to vie for the World Nine-ball Championship 2025, set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from July 21 to 26.

Among them, Duong Quoc Hoang is currently the highest-ranked Vietnamese player in the world, holding 26th position in the nine-ball pool rankings. He is followed by Pham Phuong Nam (ranked 75th), Nguyen Anh Tuan (84th), Luong Duc Thien (87th), and Bui Truong An (97th). All five have secured official slots to participate in this year’s championship.

At the recent 2025 National Billiards and Snooker Championship in Ho Chi Minh City, Luong Duc Thien claimed the nine-ball pool title, while Pham Phuong Nam finished in third place. Duong Quoc Hoang was crowned champion in the 10-ball pool category, with Thien taking the runner-up position.

Based on their current form and international rankings, Hoang and Thien are seen as Vietnam’s strongest medal hopes at the upcoming global tournament.

The World Nine-ball Championship 2025 is expected to attract more than 130 players from around the world, with total prize money of up to US$1 million.
