Final round of Vovinam tourney kicks off in Algeria

Competitors received big cheers from Vietnam Ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep and a large number of Vietnamese people, who were in attendance at the event.

At the competition, the AS National Police Team (ASSN) took the gold medal while the Olympic Bourrouba Club claimed second place and the silver medal.

Mrs Halima, a referee at the tournament, said Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) have developed strongly in Algeria with an increasing number of competitors as the sport helps them improve both their physical and mental health.

Around 15,000 people in Algeria now practice Vovinam, said Halima.
