Vietnam triumphs at Vovinam Championship in Algeria

Vietnamese martial artists secured their fourth consecutive championship title at the World Vovinam (Vietnamese Martial Arts) Championship after bagging 19 gold and five silver medals.
Host Algeria came second with 15 gold, 12 silver and six bronze medals, followed by Italy with one gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
The 4th World Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) Championship took place in Algeria from July 30-August 1, drawing the participation of 250 officials, referees and contestants from 20 countries worldwide.
According to Chairman of the Algerian Vovinam Federation Djouadj Mohamed, Vovinam has seen stellar development as evidenced by brilliant performances of the involved athletes.
Currently, Vovinam is practiced in more than 50 countries worldwide, including 12 in Africa. In Algeria alone, there are more than 22,000 practitioners in 30 out of the country’s 40 provinces and cities.
