FIFA appoints Vietnamese female assistant referee for 2026 U20 Women's World Cup
VOV.VN - Assistant referee Ha Thi Phuong has been honored with a FIFA appointment to officiate at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026, which runs from September 5 to 27, 2026.
Phuong has been assigned as Assistant Referee 1 for the match between France and Ecuador, marking her official debut at the tournament. This milestone represents a memorable career achievement for the Vietnamese female referee on the international stage.
To prepare for the premier youth global football event, invited referees and assistant referees arrived in Katowice, Poland, in late August to complete a pre-tournament training seminar organized by FIFA from August 30 to September 3.
To ensure high professional standards, FIFA enforces rigorous health and fitness requirements. Phuong successfully completed mandatory physical tests under the supervision of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), with the entire process recorded and submitted directly to FIFA for evaluation.
Her selection for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026 recognizes her dedication and professional competence.
Beyond personal pride, this milestone affirms the growing reputation and capability of Vietnamese female referees, and Vietnamese match officials as a whole on the international stage.
