AFC accredits two Vietnamese VAR referees for upcoming competitions

VOV.VN - Two Vietnamese male referees, Ngo Duy Lan and Nguyen Trung Hau, have passed the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)'s video assistant referees (VAR) selection course, securing their spots on the AFC Video Match Officials (VMOs) Panel 2026.

This is a positive step forward for Vietnamese referees in officiating continental-level tournaments, and it also affirms their professional development in the application of VAR technology.

Taking place from February 2 to 6, the VMOs were assessed through a comprehensive programme combining theoretical instruction and thorough evaluations, involving the VAR simulator and live match situations.

The course’s goal is to evaluate officials for potential appointment in future AFC competitions.

The recognition of two male referees in the VMO Panel 2026 not only highlights growing expertise among Vietnamese VAR specialists but also raises their positions at global events in the years ahead.
