FAT Vice President to visit Vietnam over flag display error

VOV.VN - Vice President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Adisak Benjasiriwan led a Thai delegation to Vietnam on October 29 to apologize for displaying the wrong national flag during the draw ceremony of the ASEAN U19 Boys’ Futsal Championship.

During the draw held on the afternoon of October 28, Thailand mistakenly showed the Chinese flag instead of the Vietnamese flag in a 10-minute livestream organized by FAT.

In response, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) sent an urgent letter to both the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and FAT, expressing its objection to the error. The VFF also requested FAT to clarify the cause and ensure strict measures are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

On the evening of October 28, FAT President Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) issued an official letter of apology to the VFF, describing the incident as a mistake by the event organizers. She expressed hope that the VFF and Vietnamese football fans would accept FAT’s apology, adding that immediate action had been taken to correct the mistake and prevent any recurrence.

Madam Pang also decided to dispatch a delegation led by Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan to Vietnam to deliver the apology in person. Following the incident, FAT removed the video from all its social media platforms.
