Vietnam futsal teams know their opponents for SEA Games 33
VOV.VN - The organizers of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) have drawn the group stage for the men’s and women’s futsal tournaments, confirming the opponents for Vietnam’s teams at the Games in Thailand this December.

In the men’s tournament, only five teams, including Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar, are participating.
The competition will use a single round-robin format to determine the final rankings. Historically, Vietnam’s men’s futsal team has never won a SEA Games gold medal. This year, under head coach Diego Giustozzi, the team aims to improve on its bronze medal at SEA Games 32.
Thailand and Indonesia are considered strong contenders, requiring careful preparation from the Vietnamese squad. Matches will be held from December 13 to 19 at Nonthaburi Arena or the Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi Campus in Pathum Thani.
In the women’s tournament, Vietnam is drawn in Group B alongside Myanmar and Indonesia, while Group A includes Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The group is seen as balanced, with Myanmar and Indonesia emerging as rapidly improving teams that have previously posed challenges for Vietnam. The women’s matches will take place from December 12 to 18 at the same venues.
Both men’s and women’s teams are expected to begin their preparations at the end of October, aiming to achieve their best results at SEA Games 33.
