Black market rife with tickets ahead of Vietnam-Thailand tie

According to Vietnamnet’s reporters in Bangkok, scalpers have increased the prices of black-market tickets for away fans by up to nine times their original value. At present, some tickets are being sold for as high as 10,000 baht, equivalent to nearly VND10 million.

The Football Association of Thailand had started to sell a total of 2,244 tickets at affordable ticket prices to Vietnamese fans from 10:00 on August 19. In order to make a purchase, Vietnamese supporters had to present their passport and pay 650 baht, equivalent to VND488,000, per ticket. In addition to this, each fan was limited to purchasing a maximum of four tickets.

As the away fans in the venue, supports of the Vietnam national team are to be seated in one of the stadium’s corners.

While Vietnamese fans struggle to get hold of tickets at a fair price, supporters of the Thailand national team are able to pay just 200 baht, equivalent to VND150,000, for a ticket in both stand C and stand D in the stadium. Alternatively, Thai fans are also able to pay 350 baht, equivalent to VND262,000, for a ticket in stand B, and 500 baht, equivalent to VND375,000, for a ticket in stand A.
