Australia secure 2-0 win over Vietnam in ASEAN Women’s Futsal opener

VOV.VN - Australia beat Vietnam 2-0 in their Group B opener at the 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship on February 24.

The match, played at Terminal 2 Korat Hall in Thailand, saw both teams press from the opening whistle. Australian forward Nikkita Fazzari tested goalkeeper Thuy Linh in the second minute and struck the post with a long-range effort seven minutes later.

Vietnam responded in the 13th minute when Vu Thi Hoa fired just wide on a counterattack. Bien Thi Hang also threatened from a kick-in, but the Australian goalkeeper denied her. The first half ended goalless.

Australia broke the deadlock in the 24th minute after capitalising on a defensive lapse from a set piece, with Fruscalzo finishing to make it 1-0. Vietnam pushed forward in search of an equaliser and deployed a power-play late on. However, a turnover in the 39th minute allowed Fazzari to seal the result with Australia’s second goal.

Facing a physically stronger opponent, Vietnam struggled in one-on-one duels throughout the match.
