APA sports event opens in HCM City

The ASEAN Ports Association (APA)’s 12th Sports Meet kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on May 10.

Held by the Vietnam Seaports Association (VSA), the five-day event drew 419 athletes from APA member nations, competing in golf, futsal, tennis, badminton, the marathon and table tennis.

This is the first time the VSA has hosted the event. It was supported by the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and sports federations in organising the tournament.

The triennial event promotes cooperation among APA members, which are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
