Anh Minh finishes runner-up at 2026 West Coast Conference Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnamese golfer Nguyen Anh Minh delivered an impressive performance to finish runner-up at the 2026 West Coast Conference Championship, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I event held at Green Valley Country Club.
Representing Oregon State, the Vietnamese golfer carded rounds of 69-67-65 for a 54-hole total of 12-under, securing second place.
His standout performance came in the final round, where he surged with five birdies in the first seven holes to briefly draw level with the tournament leader, adding drama to the title race. He closed with a 65 (-6), one of the best rounds of the tournament.
Over three rounds, Anh Minh recorded 15 birdies, finishing three shots behind champion Ian Maspat of San Diego, who claimed the individual title at 15-under par with 18 birdies.
This marked Anh Minh’s second top-three finish in his NCAA Division I freshman season, following his victory at the Bandon Dunes Championship in March.
Beyond individual success, he also played a key role in lifting Oregon State to fourth place overall, helping the team advance to the match-play semifinals.
Regular competition at the NCAA level has helped Anh Minh sharpen his course management, mental resilience and consistency under pressure. Once regarded as a promising talent in Vietnam and the region, he is now steadily establishing himself in one of the world’s most competitive collegiate golf environments.
