Golfer Chuc An to compete at Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship
VOV.VN - Golfer Le Chuc An will be the only Vietnamese representative at the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship (WAAP) 2026 golf tournament to be held in New Zealand from February 12 to 15.
This is the third time in her career that the 18-year-old girl will participate in the golf tournament. She made her debut in 2024 but missed the cut, before improving to a tied-30th finish in 2025.
Vietnamese golf experts say Chuc An is expected to deliver her strongest performance yet at this year’s championship.
Ahead of the event, Chuc An climbed six places to reach 160th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), marking the first time a Vietnamese female golfer has broken into the world’s top 160. She is currently Vietnam’s No.1 female amateur golfer.
Chuc An won the Vietnam National Championship in 2025 and made history by claiming a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games, becoming the first Vietnamese woman to win a golf medal at the regional multi-sport event.
She recently won the Trang An - AJGA International Pathway Series 2026 golf tournament held in Ninh Binh which attracted many top amateur golfers.
Launched in 2018, the WAAP has been developed by the R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation to discover emerging talent and provide a pathway for Asia’s elite female amateurs onto the international stage. It is one of the leading championships in amateur golf for female golfers.
