VOV.VN - Vietnam began their campaign at the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Singapore at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi on August 6.

With superior strength and quality, coach Okiyama Masahiko’s squad quickly asserted control and pushed forward from the opening whistle. In the 15th minute, Thuc Nghi capitalised on a defensive error and fired a low shot into the corner of the net, opening the scoring for Vietnam.
Boosted by strong home support, Vietnam maintained relentless pressure throughout the first half, creating numerous chances. However, poor finishing limited them to just a single goal heading into halftime.
The breakthrough came early in the second half. In the 48th minute, Y Za Luong skillfully beat a defender and struck a sharp angled shot to double the lead.
Just two minutes later, Luu Hoang Van made a dazzling solo run before setting up Thao Nguyen, who slotted the ball into an open net to make it 3-0.
With the game firmly in hand, Vietnam continued to dominate possession and pepper the Singapore goal with shots. Despite being denied three times by the woodwork, they managed to add two more goals in the closing minutes.
Nguyen Thi Thuong found the net in the 85th minute, followed by a composed finish from Ca Thi Phuong in the 88th minute to seal the 5-0 scoreline.
This commanding win puts Vietnam at the top of the group after the first round, tied on three points with Hong Kong (China) but ahead on goal difference. The result reflects not only Vietnam’s superior technical ability but also the high morale fueled by passionate support from home fans.
