Vietnam gear up for AFC U20 Women’s qualifiers as opponents arrive in Hanoi
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese U20 women’s football team are entering a crucial phase of preparation ahead of the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Championship qualifiers, as their three group-stage opponents - Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, and Hong Kong (China) – are set to arrive in Vietnam on August 3 - 4.

Following a productive training camp in Japan, head coach Okiyama Masahiko’s players are building momentum and confidence ahead of the tournament. The qualifiers represent a key opportunity for Vietnam’s emerging talents to gain valuable international experience and take the next step toward elite competition in Asia.
Progressing to the final round would offer the Vietnamese side the chance to test themselves against the continent’s strongest teams, an essential milestone in developing future successors to national stars like Huynh Nhu and Hai Yen.
The team’s opponents have also shown strong commitment to preparation. Singapore’s U20 team will be the first to touch down in Hanoi, arriving at 11:30 a.m. on August 3. Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong (China) will follow on August 4, landing at 12:15 p.m. and 6:05 p.m., respectively.
Vietnam’s U20 squad will play all of their group matches at 7:00 p.m., beginning with a clash against Singapore on August 6, followed by Hong Kong (China) on August 8, and concluding the group stage with Kyrgyzstan on August 10.
Earlier, during their July training camp in Japan, the Vietnamese U20s recorded a notable 5–3 victory over Japan’s Iwata Higashi High School on July 17. The result marked coach Masahiko’s first win with the squad and provided a significant morale boost ahead of the qualifiers.
With strong preparations, rising talent, and growing confidence, the Vietnamese team are determined to make their mark on the regional stage and secure a place among Asia’s best.
