U20 women’s team to train in Japan ahead of AFC qualifiers
VOV.VN - The Vietnam U20 women’s football team will head to Japan on July 10 for a training camp in preparation for the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, which are set to take place in early August.

After 10 days of intensive training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre, head coach Okiyama Masahiki and his staff prioritized building the players’ fitness and fine-tuning the core squad through two practice matches: one internal and one against the Thai Nguyen U19 women’s club on July 9, which ended in a 5-2 win for the national team.
Assessing his squad, coach Okiyama noted that while the players have made progress, there remains room for improvement. He urged the team to stay focused and follow the training plan closely. Reflecting on the recent friendly match, he said the Thai Nguyen players were quick, but the U20 team still delivered a relatively solid performance.
During their 10-day stay in Hamamatsu city, Shizuoka prefecture, the team will play five friendlies, two against university sides from Shizuoka Sangyo University and Aichi Toho, and three against Japanese high school teams.
The squad will return to Hanoi on July 21 for final preparations ahead of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. In the upcoming tournament, Vietnam is drawn in Group B alongside Singapore, Hong Kong (China), and Kyrgyzstan. All group-stage matches are scheduled to be held from August 6 to 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi.
