AFC fines Vietnam for violation at Futsal Asian Cup

VOV.VN - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has fined the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for violations related to the national futsal team’s quarter-final match against Indonesia at the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup on February 3.

According to the AFC, the penalties stem from disciplinary breaches committed by VFF personnel during the match.

The VFF has been fined US$1,125 for an offence under Article 53.1 of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code, read together with Article 2.1 of Circular No. 8 for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026.

Three Vietnamese individuals were sanctioned by the referee, marking the federation’s second violation within the recidivism period.

The AFC stated that the fine must be paid within 30 days from the date of notification, in accordance with Article 11.3 of the Disciplinary and Ethics Code.

Previously, Vietnam lost 2–3 to Indonesia and were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Indonesia went on to impress by defeating Japan 5–3 in the semi-finals before losing to Iran on penalties in the final.
