FIFA accredits 22 Vietnamese referees for 2026 competitions
VOV.VN - The world’s football governing body FIFA has officially announced the list of Vietnamese referees accredited as FIFA referees for 2026, with a total of 22 Vietnamese match officials receiving international recognition.
According to the 2026 list, Vietnam has five FIFA-accredited male referees, seven male assistant referees, three female referees, three female assistant referees, and four male and female futsal referees.
Notably, the 2026 list consists of young referee Do Khanh Nam who recently graduated from the AFC Refereeing Academy Batch 4. He has regularly been assigned to officiate matches in the country’s top professional football league V.League.
In addition, Le Tran Nghia who has been an experienced assistant referee in the V.League has been recognised by FIFA for the first time.
A highlight of the 2026 referee list is that Vietnam has two first male VAR referees accredited by FIFA, namely Ngo Duy Lan and Nguyen Trung Hau. This is a recognition of Vietnamese VAR referees as VAR technology plays an increasingly important role in international tournaments.
Regionally, Vietnam ranks third in Southeast Asia in terms of the number of FIFA-accredited referees, behind Thailand with 27 officials and Malaysia with 23.
