2026 Southeast Asian Karate Championships heading to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnam has officially received the flag from the Southeast Asian Karate Federation (SEAKF), marking its role as host of the Southeast Asian Karate Championships in 2026.

The flag handover took place following the closing ceremony of the 12th SEAKF Championships 2025, held in Brunei on June 19.

On the final day of competition, Vietnam clinched gold in the women’s team kumite event, while the men’s team took silver in the same discipline.

With a total haul of 28 gold, 31 silver, and 17 bronze medals, the Vietnamese karate team topped the overall medal tally. Indonesia ranked second with 11 gold, nine silver, and 24 bronze medals, followed by Thailand with eight gold, six silver, and 27 bronze medals.

The tournament, which ran from June 17 to 19, brought together hundreds of karate athletes from across Southeast Asia. It also served as an important warm-up for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, set to be held in Thailand this December.
