12 Vietnamese archers to vie for titles at world championships

VOV.VN - Twelve Vietnamese archers will compete at the 2025 World Archery Championships in the Republic of Korea slated for September 5 - 12, according to the archery department under the Sports Authority of Vietnam.

They will compete in both recurve and compound categories for men and women, said Phan Trong Quoc, head of the archery department.

Among the players, Le Quoc Phong is a Vietnamese hopeful who won an official ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men's individual recurve category.

“The Vietnamese archery team will compete in the World Championships with the highest level of focus and determination. This is a key international competition for us in 2025 and an important step in our preparation for the upcoming SEA Games 33,” said Quoc.

Before heading to the world championships, the athletes recently competed at the 2025 National Archery Championships held in Vinh Long. There, they took part in men’s and women’s recurve and compound categories, before returning to training at the National Elite Sports Training Centre.

The World Archery Championships take place every two years and in the past Vietnamese athletes hadn’t got the results they expected.

With a promising and experienced lineup, Quoc said he hopes the team can deliver a breakthrough performance this year.
