Vietnam finish among top 20 at World Archery Championship

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese female team ranked 17th at the World Archery Championship, which was held in in Germany from August 1 to August 6.

According to the results, the Vietnamese side sent a total of six outstanding athletes, including Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi, Do Thi Anh Nguyet, Hoang Thi Mai, Le Quoc Phong, Hoang Van Loc, and Nguyen Duy to attend the competition.

In women's individual event saw both Do Thi Anh Nguyet and Nguyen Thanh Nhi earn tickets to progress to the knockout round.

Meanwhile, in the women’s team event, the trio of Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi, Hoang Thi Mai, and Do Thi Anh Nguyet won 6-0 against Poland. However, they were then defeated in the second round after losing 6-2 to China, ultimately ranking ninth in the event.

In the team compound event, the pair Do Thi Anh Nguyet and Nguyen Duy successfully made it through the qualifying round, but ultimately suffered failure in the knockout round after being defeated by Turkey, finishing 15th in the event.

Overall, the Vietnamese archery team couldn't bring home a medal and ranked 17th in the competition. The 2023 World Archery Championships brought together 529 archers from 81 countries and territories worldwide who competed in a variety of events for both recurve and compound bows. The occasion also served as an evaluation for allocating Olympic slots by the World Archery Federation.

The tournament is regarded as one of the essential specialised competitions for Vietnamese archers to showcase their professional skills and prepare for the upcoming ASIAD 19-2022.
