Young talents encouraged to study hard, fuel deep passion
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on January 8 told 2020 International Olympiad winners to study hard to ‘improve themselves and pursue the career they love’.
Honouring the winners with the State President’s Labour Order and the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit, Phuc said their results in the international competitions have elevated Vietnam’s image globally.
A good beginning makes a good ending, said the PM, adding that whether they study at home or abroad in the future, they need to develop their burning passion to improve themselves and pursue the careers they love, so as to make a contribution to the nation.
“The Party and State always introduce appropriate policies to encourage young talents to bring into full play their expertise and creativity,” affirmed the Prime Minister.
In 2020 all 24 gifted students of five national teams took part in international Olympiad competitions in mathematics, chemistry, biology, informatics, and the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2020. They brought home nine golds, 8 silvers, 5 bronzes and 2 certificates of merit.
During the past five years, 174 Vietnamese students have won 170 medals and certificates of merit, including 54 golds, 68 silvers and 40 bronzes, at regional and international Olympiad competitions. Several teams have maintained a stable record, winning high prizes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Informatics.
