Whale appears in waters off central coast of Vietnam
VOV.VN - A large whale was spotted swimming off the shore of a beach near Mui Dien Cape in Dong Hoa town of central coastal Phu Yen province on July 5.
A video posted by a local fisherman shows a large whale hunting, diving deep, and then coming back up to grab a school of small fish.
The eyewitness said it was the first time that he had ever seen such a large whale along the local coast.
According to local residents, whales appearing along the coast may bring good luck to them all year round.
Dao Quang Minh, head of the Fisheries Sub-Department of Phu Yen province, shared that the whale choosing the Mui Dien Cape waters to hunt for fish is positive news as it shows that the local sea environment has improved and is capable of fully meeting the needs of whales.
In 2023, two whales were also spotted in Vung Ro Bay off the central coastal province of Phu Yen swimming and hunting for food.
