Whales spotted in Vung Ro Bay of Phu Yen province
VOV.VN - Two whales have been seen in Vung Ro Bay of the central coastal province of Phu Yen swimming and hunting for food, according to a video clip shot by a tour guide.
“When I led a group of tourists to Vung Ro Bay on July 14, I came across two whales swimming there, and made a short clip,” tour guide Chau Hoc, 35.
The clip shows two large whales were hunting, diving deep and then coming up to grab a school of small fish.
The two whales were of the same size, about 15 m long and 3-4 m wide, swimming about two nautical miles from the shore.
Tran Kim Trong, head of Hoan Xuan Nam commune, confirmed that a pair of whales appeared on July 14 morning hunting for food and then left in the afternoon of the same day.
The two whales also showed no signs of injury or distress, he said.
This is the first time two healthy large whales have been seen along the local coast. According to local fishermen, whales appearing along the coast will bring good luck to them all year round.
